在世界的任何角落，青年旅館都是背包客的住宿首選，原因很簡單，青年旅館的價格比一般旅館便宜太多了。不過，一分錢，一分貨，住在青年旅館一定沒有一般旅館舒適，人多吵雜、沒有隱私⋯⋯
身為資深背包客的我，住過歐、亞、美洲八十間以上的青年旅館，也在青年旅館打工換宿過，應該可以算是個青年旅館小達人吧。從這些經驗中，我找到很多小訣竅和必帶的物品，讓住宿青年旅館變得更容易、更方便。
－ 房間篇
大部分的青年旅館都是以宿舍間為主，也就是同一個房間住好幾個人，四人、六人、八人，我甚至住過超大房間有二十人的。多人共用一個房間比較沒有隱私，也容易受到其他人影響，或是影響到其他人。
① 小掛鎖
通常，每個人在房間裡都有一個置物櫃，有些大到整個背包都可以放進去，有些只夠放重要的物品。大多數青年旅館的置物櫃都沒有付鎖，有時候在櫃檯可以租，不過，還是自己帶一個鎖更省事啦，一般的小掛鎖就可以了，有需要的話，也可以拿來鎖背包的拉鍊或是行李箱。
我一向認為住青年旅館很安全，畢竟大部分的人都是好人，不會刻意去拿其他人的東西，但還是以防萬一，出門時把貴重的物品鎖起來，自己也比較安心。

② 手電筒
青年旅館通用的禮貌是，晚上十點過後，只要有人把房間的燈關了、睡覺了，大家都不應該去開大燈，直到隔天早上八、九點。
做為一個好的背包客，一定要顧慮到房間裡其他的人。
為了方便在黑暗的房間裡走動、做自己的事，有個小燈是最好的。現在的手機都有手電筒功能，只要隨身帶著手機就夠了。不然，也可以帶個小手電筒，不只在青年旅館可以用，去到鄉村或是爬山、露營都可以用的上。
③ 轉接插頭、擴充插座
現在旅行時也都離不開3c產品，手機、相機、平板電腦、筆記型電腦、行動電源，充電是件很重要的事。
到其他國家旅行，一定要先查好當地的插座是哪一種，並預備轉接的插頭。如果真的忘記帶，也不妨問問青年旅館的櫃檯，因為大家常常不小心把轉接頭遺忘在房間裡，沒有帶走，所以櫃檯都會收藏很多。
除此之外，也可以帶一個擴充插座，也就是有多個插座孔的插座接頭。如果有兩個以上的3c需要充電，床位旁邊的插座其實不夠用，有個擴充插座會比較方便。另外，有時候住到比較舊的青年旅館，整個房間裡只有一、兩個插座，與其跟其他人搶著用，不如拿出擴充插座來造福大家。
－ 衛浴篇
青年旅館除了房間是多人一起住的之外，浴室、廁所也都是共用的，而且多半不會在房間裡，也不提供洗髮精、沐浴乳、牙膏、牙刷這些盥洗用品，全都要自備。
④ 盥洗用品
如果只是幾個星期、短時間旅行的話，現在很多洗髮精、沐浴乳都有賣旅行用的小包裝組合，非常方便，也可以買空的小瓶子，裝入自己慣用的品牌。而像我去南美洲，幾個月以上的旅行，帶的就是一般大小的盥洗用品，不然一下就用完了，要常常去買很麻煩。
其實，真的忘了帶也沒有關係，當地的超市一定都有賣，或著，歐洲很多的青年旅館，浴室裡會有”free to use”的架子，上面有些其他人留下來的盥洗用品，是免費給大家使用的。
⑤ 毛巾
不僅是盥洗用品，青年旅館也不提供毛巾，得要自己帶。
現在很流行旅行用的快乾毛巾，體積很小又很輕。這種毛巾確實是乾的快，因為它不太吸水，擦過皮膚也不舒服，我認為還是一般的毛巾比較好用，一條薄的小浴巾不會比較重，也不會佔太多空間。
⑥ 防水、有手把的袋子
因為衛浴通常不在房間裡，盥洗需要的東西都得拿進拿出，要有一個裝所有盥洗用品的袋子才方便。在淋浴間裡或洗手台都容易噴到水，所以最好是用防水的袋子，而且要有手把，因為淋浴間裡常常只有掛鉤，不一定有架子可以放。
旅行用的收納袋種類很多，也有專門裝盥洗用品的袋子，到處都能買到。其實有更簡單又便宜的方法，就是直接用個塑膠袋，效果一樣好。
還有，要多帶一個比較大的袋子裝換洗衣物，才不用全部都抱在手上，一不小心就掉到地上了。如果在歐洲這種比較開放的地方，洗完澡直接圍著毛巾回房間也是可以的。
⑦ 拖鞋、涼鞋
另一個一定要有的物品是拖鞋，洗澡時的必備，平常在青年旅館裡走動也可以穿。
一定要分享一下我自己獨特也最愛的撇步！
比起拖鞋，我更喜歡帶一雙夾腳涼鞋。
那種海灘夾腳涼鞋有拖鞋所有的優點，輕巧、不怕碰水、穿脫方便，更好的是，涼鞋可以搭配洋裝、短褲等夏天的衣服，在城市裡穿也不覺得隨便。又可以當一般的鞋子穿出門，又可以當拖鞋穿去洗澡，根本是一箭雙鵰。

⑧ 小鏡子
通常只有衛浴的洗手台前有鏡子，要塗塗抹抹、化妝的話，沒地方放東西，距離又很遠，不僅不太方便，還有人進進出出，感覺有點怪。最好帶一個小鏡子，在房間裡，自己的床上，就可以保養、化妝，更容易一點。
－ 廚房篇
住青年旅館最大的好處之一就是有廚房，我和大部分的背包客一樣，常常自己煮飯。對我來說，除了省錢之外，更多的時候是想吃得健康一點，尤其像在南美這種很難吃到青菜的地方，真的不能餐餐都在外面吃。
青年旅館的廚房好壞落差很大，不過，杯盤、餐具、鍋子這些基本用具都會有，很多甚至連調味料也有，油、鹽、胡椒等等，簡單的做一頓飯是沒有問題的。
⑨ 打火機
在南美和歐洲，很多瓦斯爐是需要自己點火的，大部分的青年旅館會提供打火機或是火柴，不過，這種小東西常常一下就不見了。
在廚房最惱人的事莫非是想煮飯卻沒有打火機，點不了火就什麼都不能煮，只好吃沙拉。遇過幾次這樣的情況之後，我去買了一個打火機，帶著一起旅行，隨時隨地要煮飯都可以。打火機很便宜，體積也小，絕對值得加入行李的行列。
⑩ 馬克筆
廚房裡的冰箱每個人都可以使用，但有一個不成文的規定：沒有名字的食物就是大家都可以吃的食物，所以一定要標示好自己的食物，寫上名字。通常冰箱旁邊會有馬克筆或是標籤紙，不過，很多時候，這些筆不是不見了，就是沒水了，如果自己有一隻馬克筆就不用煩惱這種事了。
馬克筆不僅可以在自己的食物包裝上寫名字，任何時候有需要標記什麼東西，或在某個地方做記號，都很好用。
住青年旅館是有不便之處，但我找出這些小撇步，解決了很多會遇到的問題，讓住青年旅館變得舒服、方便許多。而且，不論如何，我認為青年旅館的優點還是多於缺點的，可以認識世界各國來的旅行者，互相交換旅行的資訊，一起出去玩，偶爾還會遇到能變成真心好友的人，這些都是值得的。
